Renowned Islamic scholar and As-Sunnah Foundation Chairman Shaykh Ahmadullah has strongly criticized the recent proposals by the Women’s Reform Commission, calling them a direct attack on traditional family structures in Bangladesh.

On Tuesday, April 29, Shaykh Ahmadullah voiced his concerns through a verified Facebook post, expressing outrage over the 318-page proposal by the Women’s Reform Commission. According to him, the recommendations represent a “deep-rooted blueprint” to dismantle the country’s cultural and familial foundations.

“This imposed agenda is nothing short of a war against the family and social framework rooted in our soil,” wrote Ahmadullah. He further accused the commission members of blindly following Western ideologies without understanding the social realities of Bangladesh.

“The pages of this proposal reflect a disturbing image of the members’ obsession with the West. These individuals do not represent the women of this country—they merely echo Western culture and its philosophies,” he said.

Ahmadullah acknowledged the West’s advancement in science and technology but argued that in terms of marital harmony and family life, Bangladeshi society stands far ahead.

The remarks have stirred significant debate, as discussions around the Women’s Reform Commission continue to dominate public and social discourse.
