During the inspection, the Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan said that gradually this airport has become an important part of both military and civil aviation operations, which will contribute significantly to the national interest. Bogra Airport is essential for CASEVAC and MEDEVAC missions, through which it will be possible to quickly evacuate seriously ill patients from remote areas of the area for better treatment.

During the visit, the Air Chief stated :

  • Proper maintenance of this runway will play an effective role in national security and dealing with emergency situations.
  • If re-carpeting is possible in time, it will prevent the future deterioration of this runway, which will save additional money later.
  • This runway serves as an alternative and emergency landing point for VVIP flights, which plays a role in ensuring security in any situation that arises in the north-western region. It serves as a strategic hub to facilitate relief operations and rapid deployment of armed forces personnel during natural disasters like floods.
  • Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will take necessary measures to improve the runway through necessary renovation and re-carpeting at the earliest and to extend the runway for commercial flights later and Bangladesh Air Force will provide necessary assistance to the CAA in this regard.
  • In addition to protecting the sovereignty of the country, Bangladesh Air Force is working tirelessly to deal with any disaster in the country and has been conducting various service activities.

Liberty News observed that the airport is currently operated by Bangladesh Air Force and is called BAF Station Bogura.
