Awami League Presidium Member and former minister Mosharraf Hossain, 82, has been hospitalized due to multiple health complications, including heart disease and neurological issues. He was transferred to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) following a medical board’s decision at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Mosharraf Hossain was arrested on October 27 from a residence in Bashundhara, Dhaka, and subsequently sent to Chittagong prison. His deteriorating health prompted authorities to transfer him to CMCH, where he was initially admitted to the prison ward. A specialized medical board, comprising experts from the medicine, neurology, and cardiology departments, assessed his condition.
Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin, director of CMCH, stated, “He is suffering from multiple ailments. A medical board was formed, and based on their decision, he was transferred to BSMMU for further treatment.”
Liberty News’ national affairs correspondent states that, on January 15, the former Housing and Public Works Minister was arrested in connection with nine cases filed at Mirsharai and Zorarganj police stations related to an anti-discrimination student movement. His legal battle continues, and his health remains a growing concern.
