Home Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has announced that all unequal agreements made with India during the Awami League government’s tenure will be discussed, following accusations of discrimination and protests from various groups.
There have been long-standing allegations that the Awami League government has entered into several unequal agreements with neighboring India. These claims have sparked multiple protests, particularly from student and public groups opposing perceived inequalities.
At a press conference on Wednesday at the Secretariat, Home Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated that discussions would be held regarding these agreements. The announcement came in connection with a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) summit.
Liberty News’ national correspondent reports earlier, on January 14, the Home Advisor had mentioned that some unequal agreements had been made with India. He further added that a meeting between the Director Generals of BGB and BSF is scheduled for next month, during which these issues will be brought up for discussion.
