Anisul, Salman and Amu shown arrested in July cases

A Dhaka court on Wednesday ordered to show nine persons as arrested, including former Law Minister Anisul Huq, former adviser to the Prime Minister Salman F Rahman, and senior political figure Amir Hossain Amu, in different cases connected to the July uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masum Mia passed the order following petitions seeking formal recognition of their arrests filed by the police.

The other individuals shown arrested are former State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former Inspector General of Police Shahidul Haque, former Secretary Jahangir Alam, former lawmaker Kazi Monirul Islam Monu, and former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan.

Monirul Islam Monu has been implicated in eight separate cases. Anisul Huq, Abul Hasan, Jahangir Alam, Palak, and Shahidul Haque are each linked to two cases, while Salman F Rahman, Dipu Moni, and Amir Hossain Amu are named in one case each. All the cases were filed with the Jatrabari Police Station of the capital.

Each of the accused was arrested previously in other cases and placed on remand at different times.
