A Metropolitan Magistrate on Wednesday granted a two-day fresh remand for former Law Minister Anisul Huq, Prime Minister’s Adviser Salman F Rahman and Awami League leader Nuru Mia in connection with the killing of a youth during the July uprising.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub issued the order after holding a hearing.
Earlier this morning, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Inspector Muhammad Kamruzzaman Sikder, the case’s investigating officer, sought five-day remand for each of the accused.
Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruki represented the state during the hearing.
All four suspects, Anisul Huq, Salman F Rahman, Nuru Mia and Sohanur Rahman Azad were produced in court. Sohanur’s lawyer, Zaherul Islam, applied for bail, while the others’ lawyers requested cancellation of the remand but did not argue.
The court granted remand for Anisul, Salman, and Nuru, while deferring a decision on Sohanur’s remand.
