Under the Awami League government, fired police officers have announced a new program demanding the reinstatement of their jobs. This announcement was made today, Thursday, around 3:15 PM by representatives of the dismissed police officers at the Secretariat intersection.

The dismissed police officers, who gathered in front of the Secretariat, stated that to demand the reinstatement of their jobs, they will stage another protest in front of the Secretariat again on Sunday morning.

Earlier, when the dismissed police officers attempted to march toward the Secretariat, they were stopped by the police in front of the Education Building. Unable to reach the Secretariat, they staged their protest there instead. Later, around 1 p.m., a five-member delegation from the group went to the Secretariat to meet with the Senior Security Advisor, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. However, since the advisor was not available, they were unable to meet with him. After returning, they announced their new course of action.

It is reported that the dismissed police officers staged a protest today, holding various banners and chanting different slogans demanding the reinstatement of their jobs. During the protest, their family members were also seen joining them in their demonstration.

Liberty News‘ National Affairs Correspondent reports that a police officer holding the rank of Sub-Inspector (SI) who participated in the protest said, “We haven’t done anything wrong. We were unjustly dismissed from our jobs under the influence of former IGP Benjir Ahmed and several senior police officials. Now that they are no longer in power, why are we not being reinstated?”
