Apple is launching the new model of the iPhone 16 series, the ‘iPhone 16e’. The new iPhone, powered by the powerful A18 processor, has a design similar to the iPhone 14, but it lacks the ‘Dynamic Island’ and Touch ID interface. However, Face ID has been added to the model. To make it easier to use Face ID, the front camera has been placed within the notch. The price of the iPhone 16e model, depending on the version, is set at $599 or approximately 72,000 Taka (assuming the exchange rate is 120 Taka per dollar).
The iPhone 16e model features a 6.6-inch OLED screen and is slightly smaller and slimmer compared to other models in the iPhone 16 series. It includes a customizable action button, but the new ‘Camera Control’ feature has not been added.
In compliance with European Union regulations, the iPhone 16e comes with a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port. However, the new model does not have MagSafe technology and fast wireless charging features. As a result, the iPhone 16e model supports 7.5-watt Qi wireless charging.
The iPhone 16e model comes with a single 48-megapixel ‘two-in-one camera system’. Although there are no additional cameras, the model supports wireless charging and has a higher water resistance rating (IP rating). An important point is that the iPhone 16e model uses Apple’s own custom modem for the first time. Apple had been planning to move away from Qualcomm’s modems for a long time, this effort has now been successfully implemented.
According to Apple, a minimum of 8GB of RAM is required to use Apple Intelligence technology. Therefore, it is expected that the iPhone 16e model will have at least 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Pre-orders for the iPhone 16e model will begin tomorrow, Friday, but sales will start on February 28.
