A series of clashes erupted between two groups at Dhaka Alia Madrasa on Saturday night, prompting students to stage protests on the campus.
Army personnel later entered the madrasa grounds to bring the situation under control.
According to reports, fighting erupted between two groups of students inside one of the residential halls. Several students were injured and later taken to the hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses said that as of around 10:45 pm, a number of students were still trapped inside the hall, and the administration was working to rescue them.
Teachers and students present at the scene declined to comment on the identities of those involved or the cause of the clashes.
