The Bangladesh Army has urged citizens not to fall for rumors or be misled by false information circulating online, particularly involving fake press releases using military insignia.

In a verified Facebook post on Friday afternoon, the Bangladesh Army issued a public awareness notice, strongly advising people to remain vigilant and refrain from believing or spreading unverified information.

According to the post, a vested group recently circulated a counterfeit press release using the official logo of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The intention behind this act, the Army warned, appears to be the creation of confusion among the public and an attempt to sow division between the military and the citizens.

“Do not listen to rumors or be misled,” the post read. “Verify the truth and stay aware.”

The Army also attached an image of the fake press release with the post to help the public identify and avoid such misinformation.

The call for awareness comes amid increasing concerns over the spread of false and provocative content online, which has the potential to cause unrest. Authorities have reiterated the importance of responsible social media usage and fact-checking before sharing any sensitive information.
