In response to the publication of a controversial article on the Liberation War, the Islamic Chhatra Shibir expressed regret and withdrew the article from both online and print copies of its monthly magazine Chhatra Sangbad. This was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The statement mentioned that Chhatra Sangbad has traditionally published writings by various authors on the Great Liberation War. The magazine has also been publishing special editions on the National Independence Day and Victory Day for a long time. In line with this tradition, several articles on the Liberation War were published in the December 2024 issue. However, due to the editorial board’s oversight, a controversial and unwanted passage related to the Liberation War appeared in an article titled “Autocrats and Their Miserable End Over Time” in that issue.

In response to the issue, Chhatra Sangbad has made a clear statement expressing sincere regret for publishing the unwanted article that controversializes the Great Liberation War. The magazine has withdrawn this controversial article from the online platform and is also recalling all print copies of the December 2024 issue.

Chhatra Sangbad has unequivocally stated regarding Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir that the organization has always shown deep respect for the Great Liberation War. Since its establishment in 1977, Chhatra Shibir has made the greatest sacrifices in all mass movements for the protection of the country’s independence. Chhatra Shibir has played the role of a vigilant guardian in safeguarding the nation’s independence and sovereignty, and it will continue to do so in the future, InshAllah.
