Awami League leader Mirza Azam’s house in Jamalpur set on fire

A mob has set fire to the house of Awami League leader and former member of parliament Mirza Azam in Jamalpur city. The unrest began when protesters brought a bulldozer at Azam’s house located in the Bakultala area.

At one point, when the bulldozer broke down, the students and public who were part of the protest set fire to the house on Thursday evening. In a related incident, the residence of Jamalpur district Awami League leader and father of actor Meher Afroz Shaon, Mohammad Ali, located in Norundi Bazar, Jamalpur Sadar upazila, was also attacked and set on fire by protesters.

Liberty News’ local correspondent reports that earlier in the afternoon, student-public targeted public institutions in Baksiganj upazila, where they damaged a mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Upazila Parishad, the Freedom Fighters Complex, and Kiamat Ullah Degree College.
