The Appellate Division has ordered the suspension of bail granted to 61 pro-Awami League lawyers accused in cases related to attacks and attempted murder of general lawyers during past Students Against Discrimination movements.

On Monday, a bench of the Appellate Division led by Justice Md. Ashfaqul Islam issued the order, suspending the High Court’s earlier bail to 61 pro-Awami League lawyers. These individuals are accused in cases involving the assault and attempted murder of fellow legal professionals during the previous tenure of the Awami League.

The court also instructed that the rule issued on their bail be resolved within two weeks.

Advocates MK Rahman and Motahar Hossain Saju represented the accused lawyers in court, while Additional Attorney General Abdul Jabbar Bhuiyan appeared for the state.
