Bangladesh ‘A’ team is all set to compete in the 2025 edition of the Top End T20 Series, which will take place from 14 to 24 August in Darwin, Australia, as confirmed by Northern Territory Cricket on Tuesday. After finishing as runners-up in the previous edition under the name “High Performance XI,” the team will now officially participate as Bangladesh ‘A’.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury expressed optimism about the tournament’s role in player development, stating that playing in Australian conditions against strong opposition offers crucial experience for emerging cricketers. He further said that the Top End T20 Series has quickly become an important fixture in BCB’s calendar, and the partnership with Northern Territory Cricket highlights a shared commitment to strengthening global cricket ties.
The 2025 tournament will feature 11 teams, including four international sides. Besides Bangladesh ‘A’, the other confirmed participants so far include Pakistan Shaheens (Pakistan ‘A’) and Nepal. The remaining teams and fixtures are expected to be announced soon.
Gavin Dovey, CEO of Northern Territory Cricket, welcomed the returning teams and emphasised the tournament’s growing global appeal. He mentioned that it is a privilege to host teams from two of the world’s most populous cricket-loving nations, Pakistan and Bangladesh, alongside Nepal. According to him, the event provides an excellent platform to showcase the Northern Territory to a global audience.
Bangladesh ‘A’ will kick off their campaign against Pakistan Shaheens on 14 August at TIO Stadium in Darwin, in what is expected to be a highly anticipated encounter between the two subcontinental rivals.
