With the three-match series against the Netherlands starting on Saturday at Sylhet International Stadium, Bangladesh sees a crucial chance to prepare for the Asia Cup in Abu Dhabi. For skipper Litton Das and his teammates, every game counts—any slip-up could invite criticism at a sensitive time.
During the press conference, Litton moved to shield his side, emphasizing focus and composure over panic. The series against the Dutch serves as a dress rehearsal for the Asia Cup, giving Bangladesh a chance to fine-tune combinations before facing tougher opponents.
Speaking after Thursday’s practice session was cancelled due to persistent rain, Litton stressed that winning remains the first priority.
Litton feels this series is a great opportunity to tweak some combinations. “Every international game is a challenge. If we get a chance to check a few players, we will. But at the same time, you play to win,” he said.
Litton also highlighted the importance of scoring consistency. “Abu Dhabi will be batting-friendly, like Sylhet. Scoring 200–250 is also about building a habit. If we can, great. If not, we’ll still try to be consistent,” he added.
On the possibility of an upset against the Netherlands, Litton remained pragmatic:
“In international cricket there is no small team. Bangladesh have lost to different teams before – nothing new. If we lose, we lose. What matters is how well we play.”
For Bangladesh, the series is about more than just the result. It is a chance to solidify strategies, build confidence, and instill consistency ahead of the continent’s marquee event. While experimenting with combinations is on the table, Litton made it clear that the team’s mindset remains focused on winning and performing well in every international encounter.
