The Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has urged Bangladeshi women not to travel to Malaysia for work due to the absence of a formal agreement between the two governments. The warning comes amid rising cases of fraud targeting female workers.
In a statement released today (Friday), the High Commission highlighted that a syndicate is deceiving women by falsely promising employment in Malaysia. These fraudulent groups exploit women by sending them on tourist or other non-work visas, leaving them vulnerable to financial and psychological distress.
The notice emphasized that there is currently no government-to-government (G2G) agreement allowing Bangladeshi women to work in Malaysia as general employees. The High Commission warned that such illegal activities could damage the reputation of Bangladesh in Malaysia.
Liberty News’ national affairs correspondent reports that until a formal agreement is reached between the two countries, Bangladeshi women are strongly advised not to pursue employment in Malaysia through unauthorized channels.
