In the current year of 2025, Bangladesh has moved up four positions in the global passport index. Bangladesh is now ranked 93rd, compared to 97th last year. The year before (2023), Bangladesh held the 98th position.

At the top of the index is Singapore, while Afghanistan is ranked last. Libya and Palestine share the same position as Bangladesh.

This information comes from the index published by Henley & Partners, a London-based organization. The index was released on the organization’s website on February 4.

According to the website, the index of the most powerful passports is based on the number of countries a passport holder can visit either without a visa or with visa-free access. The rankings take into account passports from 199 countries and 227 travel destinations.

According to the published data, Bangladeshi passport holders can now travel to 39 countries around the world without needing a visa in advance or with visa-free access. This is a decrease from earlier in the year, when they could travel to 42 countries without prior visas. In 2023, this number was 40.

Here are the top ten countries based on the passport strength index:

  2. Japan and South Korea: Passport holders from these countries can visit 190 countries without a visa.
