Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and elected to bat first in the second ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Saturday, as the visitors look to keep the three-match series alive.
Sri Lanka had won the first ODI comfortably after captain Charith Asalanka chose to bat first in the series opener.

Bangladesh made two changes to their XI, dropping experienced wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das after a string of poor performances, including a duck in the first ODI. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who took four wickets in the opening match, was rested as part of workload management.

Shamim Hossain and Hasan Mahmud came into the side, with Shamim set to play his first ODI since the 2023 Asia Cup. Apart from strengthening the lower middle order, Shamim may also offer part-time off-spin options during the innings.

Hosts Sri Lanka also made two changes to their playing XI for the second ODI against Bangladesh, further strengthening their spin attack after outclassing the visitors with spin in the series opener.

Left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Dunith Wellalage returned to the side, replacing pace-bowling all-rounder Milan Rathnayake. In another change, experienced fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera came in for Ishan Malinga.
