Dhaka Condemns “Provocative” Actions, Urges New Delhi to Intervene. Bangladesh has formally protested against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s activities in India, calling them provocative and summoning the Indian acting high commissioner to convey its concerns. Dhaka has urged New Delhi to prevent Hasina from engaging in such actions, stating that previous requests on the matter have gone unanswered.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain confirmed on Thursday that a protest note was handed over to the Indian envoy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “We have repeatedly asked India to ensure Hasina refrains from these activities, but there has been no response,” he stated.
Concerns Over Hasina’s Remarks and Agreements with India
Hossain further emphasized that Hasina’s recent statements were highly inflammatory and could negatively influence the younger generation in Bangladesh. “We will observe what steps India takes,” he said, adding that Bangladesh remains firm in its stance against such actions.
When questioned about Bangladesh’s agreements with India, Hossain criticized the Adani power deal, claiming it was not in the best interests of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, he also announced that Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will soon visit the United Arab Emirates to discuss mutual interests, including visa-related issues.
Liberty News’ national affairs correspondent states that as tensions rise, all eyes are on India’s response to Dhaka’s repeated concerns regarding Hasina’s activities on its soil.
