Bangladesh Emerging staged a stunning comeback after a disastrous start, bouncing back from 58 for 5 to post a commanding 371 in their first innings against South Africa Emerging in the second unofficial Test in Mirpur.

Bangladesh Emerging were reeling at 58 for 5 after a top-order collapse on Day 1, raising fears of a sub-100 total. However, middle-order batters Iftekhar Hossain and Moin Khan steadied the innings with a 179-run partnership that brought the hosts back into the contest.

Moin narrowly missed his century, scoring a gritty 91 off 159 balls with 15 boundaries before falling as the sixth batter. Iftekhar reached a well-earned hundred, hitting 14 fours in his 109 off 291 deliveries before being dismissed late on Day 1. Bangladesh ended the opening day on 242 for 7.

On Day 2, the lower order provided a vital boost. Rakibul Hasan added 31, while Ripon Mondol played a solid hand of 43. Mehedi Hasan remained unbeaten on 44 as the team wrapped up their innings at 371, showing great character and depth.

South Africa Emerging’s Andile Mokgakane was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets for 42 runs. Ntuli claimed 3 wickets, Mokwena took 2, and Forrester chipped in with 1.

The hosts now have a strong platform, thanks to their resilience and determination after a shaky start.
