The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing has strongly dismissed a recent report by the Indian newspaper Ananda Bazar Patrika, accusing it of spreading misinformation about the Bangladesh Army. The Press Wing denounced the report as baseless and misleading, emphasizing that such disinformation campaigns threaten the sovereignty and dignity of Bangladesh.

In a statement posted on its verified Facebook page on Friday, the Press Wing highlighted that the report was a deliberate attempt to manipulate facts and misrepresent Bangladesh’s military. It warned that such fabricated stories are part of a larger “hybrid warfare” strategy, aimed at distorting public perception and destabilizing Bangladesh’s institutions.

The statement further alleged that certain Indian media outlets are engaged in systematic propaganda to support Sheikh Hasina’s prolonged rule and discredit the people and institutions responsible for restoring democracy in Bangladesh.

“Hybrid warfare uses misinformation to create division and confusion, often starting with completely fabricated stories placed in media outlets that are either complicit or easily manipulated. Once picked up by other platforms, these false narratives gain artificial credibility and mislead audiences,” the Press Wing stated.

The statement directly addressed Ananda Bazar Patrika, accusing it of prioritizing propaganda over ethical journalism. “Your report on the Bangladesh Army is as fictional as a Bollywood romcom. Journalism should be based on facts and credible evidence, not manufactured narratives designed to undermine a neighboring country’s sovereignty,” it added.

The Press Wing reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to transparency and open communication with the media but stressed the need for responsible journalism. Authorities in Dhaka are closely monitoring the spread of false information and have called for stronger regional cooperation to counter disinformation campaigns.

Liberty News’ international correspondent reports that the statement concluded by reaffirming Bangladesh’s resilience against foreign propaganda and its determination to uphold national integrity. It urged all media outlets to respect journalistic ethics and report based on verifiable facts rather than politically motivated distortions.
