In the first T20 of the series, the Bangladesh women’s team lost to the West Indies by a large margin of 8 wickets. Batting first, the Tigresses set a target of 144 runs, which the West Indies surpassed with 19 balls to spare.

Winning the toss at Warner Park in St. Kitts, Bangladesh chose to bat first. The Tigresses lost their first wicket at 19 runs. After Dilara was out for 12, Shobhana was dismissed for 22, leaving Bangladesh at 43 for the second wicket. However, the partnership of 82 runs between Sharmine Akhter and captain Nigar Sultana for the third wicket gave hope for a big total.

Towards the end, Sharmine was out for 37 runs, but Nigar remained unbeaten with 53 runs off 40 balls, leading Bangladesh to a total of 144 runs for 3 wickets. In response, opening batters Kiana Joseph and Hayley Matthews scored 63 runs for the West Indies.

Liberty News sports correspondent reports that Kiana was out for 19 runs and Campbell for 3, but a storm from Dotin sent the Tigers out of the match. Matthews remained unbeaten with 60, and Dotin’s explosive 50 off 22 balls made it an easy win for the Caribbean team. Dotin, who played a stormy inning, was named the match’s player of the match.
