A Bangladeshi youth, Muradur Rahman Munna, reportedly died after being brutally assaulted by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) near the Sejamura border in Brahmanbaria’s Bijoynagar upazila on Tuesday evening.

The 28-year-old victim, a resident of Sejamura village and son of Fazlur Rahman, had gone to check his paddy field near the zero point of the border when he was allegedly picked up and beaten by BSF personnel. His body was later found injured inside Bangladeshi territory.

Family members claim that Munna was left critically wounded after being tortured by BSF members, and was found by patrolling BGB soldiers who immediately rescued him and handed him over to the family. He was rushed to Brahmanbaria General Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

“My husband went to inspect our vegetable field near the border but didn’t return. Later I was informed by someone that the BSF had taken him. We couldn’t locate him until BGB brought him back severely injured,” said his grieving wife, Ratna Begum.

His elder sister, Amena Khatun, added, “We found him in a terrible state. He has a disabled child. Who will care for the family now? We demand justice for this killing.”

Dr. Arafat, a physician at Brahmanbaria General Hospital, confirmed that Munna was brought in dead and his body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Liberty News’ local correspondent states that Lieutenant Colonel Farah Mohammad Imtiaz, commanding officer of BGB-25, said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident, including whether BSF was directly involved or if there were other causes behind the assault.
