A low-pressure area has developed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal regions of Bangladesh and West Bengal, prompting the Bangladesh Meteorological Department to issue local cautionary signal number 3 for all four maritime ports: Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra.

According to weather expert Afroza Sultana, the low is causing deep convection and the formation of storm clouds, which may lead to squally or gusty winds across the northern Bay, coastal areas, and seaports.

Fishermen and trawlers operating in the Bay have been advised to remain close to shore and proceed with caution until further notice.

The weather bulletin forecasts light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with temporary gusty winds in most areas of Khulna, Barisal, and Chattogram divisions. Many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions may also experience rain. Heavy rainfall is likely in isolated parts of the southern coastal regions.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, and residents, especially in coastal areas, are urged to stay updated with official advisories.
