Bayern Munich secured a 2-1 victory over Celtic in the first leg of their Champions League knockout round play-off, while AC Milan suffered a surprising 1-0 defeat to Feyenoord, ending their hopes for an early win in the tournament.
Bayern Munich had an early scare when they conceded a goal in the first minute against Celtic, but were fortunate to escape as the goal was ruled offside. From that point onward, Bayern dominated the game. Despite controlling possession and creating chances, they struggled to break the deadlock until the 45th minute, when Michael Olise scored a powerful shot to give Bayern the lead.
The German giants doubled their advantage early in the second half. Just four minutes into the restart, Harry Kane scored from a stunning volley off a corner, making it 2-0 for Bayern. Celtic fought back, and in the 79th minute, Daizen Maeda pulled one back for the Scottish side, raising hopes of a comeback. However, despite their efforts, Celtic couldn’t find an equalizer, and Bayern held on for a 2-1 win.
Liberty News’ sports correspondent states that in another match, AC Milan’s hopes of advancing suffered a setback with a 1-0 loss to Feyenoord. Milan fell behind early in the 3rd minute when Igor Paixao scored for the Dutch side. Despite having opportunities to equalize, the Italian giants failed to capitalize on their chances, leaving Feyenoord to secure a hard-fought victory at home.
