National Cricket League (NCL) T20 tournament, which debuted last year in Sylhet with a competitive and successful edition, is set to return this September, fulfilling players’ and fans’ wishes for another thrilling season.
In a board meeting held on Saturday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed plans for the upcoming NCL T20 tournament, scheduled to start on 14 September, but revealed that the Dhaka Metro team will not participate in this year’s four-day edition.
Instead, Mymensingh Division will join the tournament as a new team, marking a significant change in the tournament’s lineup.
BCB Media Committee Chairman Iftikhar Rahman Mithu confirmed the development, stating that while Mymensingh will take part in this year’s four-day NCL tournament, they are expected to compete in the NCL T20 starting from the next season.
Another director, Nazmul Abedin Fahim, added, “Dhaka Metro will join for now, and later Mymensingh will take over.”
Discussions are also underway regarding the venues for this season’s NCL. Earlier, BCB Tournament Committee Chairman Akram Khan indicated that the tournament would be hosted across three venues, a plan that appears to be moving forward.
