The Ministry of Youth and Sports is set to receive BDT 2,423 crore in the proposed national budget for FY2025–26 — a significant boost of BDT 842.32 crore from the previous year’s revised allocation.

Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed announced the increased allocation on Monday while presenting the national budget in Parliament. The proposal reflects the government’s commitment to youth development and sports infrastructure, with plans to expand training facilities, support grassroots talent, and promote youth engagement nationwide.

Officials from the ministry welcomed the increased allocation, noting that the additional funds will help strengthen both competitive and community-level sports programs as well as skill-building initiatives for young people.

The move aligns with the government’s broader strategy to invest in human capital, as the country looks to leverage its large youth population for sustainable economic and social development. More details on specific project breakdowns under the ministry’s budget are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
