The third floating Border Outpost (BOP) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), named ‘Boyesing Floating BOP,’ was inaugurated on May 17, 2025, at the confluence of the Raymangal River and Boyesing Channel in the Sundarbans.

Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Home Adviser to the Government of Bangladesh, formally inaugurated the outpost. BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui and other senior officials were present at the ceremony.

The Home Adviser noted that the floating BOP will serve as a fully operational platform, enhancing surveillance and patrol capabilities in the waterways. “In areas like the Sundarbans, where land-based patrols are challenging due to the terrain, such BOPs will help combat border crimes, smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal exploitation of forest resources,” he said.

According to the BGB Director General, this is the third floating BOP in the region, following the installations at Kachikata and Atharobeki. He added that plans are underway to establish a dedicated “Riverine Border Guard Battalion” to further strengthen water-based border security operations.

Addressing recent push-in incidents, the BGB chief stated that irregular push-ins continue along remote border points in Sylhet, Kurigram, and the Chittagong Hill Tracts. In response, BGB has adopted preventive measures and lodged diplomatic protests through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Enhanced security is also being implemented with the support of locals, Ansar personnel, and police.

The event was attended by BGB officials, soldiers, and members of the print and electronic media.
