Bangladesh top-order batter Anamul Haque Bijoy on Tuesday has formally demanded his unpaid dues from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), claiming he is yet to receive his full payment from the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season.

Bijoy was dropped ahead of the 12th BPL auction due to alleged fixing-related suspicions, but the batter insists the issue of his outstanding payment has nothing to do with the recent controversy.

Speaking during a Facebook Live session on Tuesday, Bijoy said, “I have informed everyone responsible, including the BPL Governing Council, that I have not received my payment. It’s not something I’m saying newly. I showed three documents on social media. One was my contract with the Rajshahi team, another was the cheques given by the Rajshahi team which had no money in them. The third was that I emailed the BCB 10–15 days ago, and I have not received any reply.”

Explaining why he went public, he added, “This is the purpose of coming live, for those who are watching, people should know the truth. The current BPL chief has said I am a direct-signing player. The BCB cannot take responsibility for a direct-signing player. Then my question is, whose team did I play for? Rajshahi team. And who runs them? Of course, the BCB. If I am being denied payment because I was a direct-signing player, then what was my base price? Forty lakh taka. I would have been sold in the draft, and that money too was not given to me by the BPL. I signed directly because they offered 10 lakh more.”

Bijoy also revisited the chaotic financial situation of the Rajshahi franchise during the previous season, saying, “You all know the Rajshahi team boycotted practice over payment issues. There were problems like the owner being held in the hotel over payment complications, bus payments and such issues. At that time, the officials in charge from the BCB spoke to us. I, Yasir, Taskin, Akbar, Faruk sir (the then president), Monju bhai and Akram bhai were present. Despite a lot of uncertainty, we were requested to continue the tournament properly. Regarding payments — whether direct-sign or drafted players — the BCB assured everyone and told us to continue playing.”

He further claimed that allegations against him surfaced only after the matches were completed: “It is being said that the allegations against us were made during the BPL (while it was ongoing). If we had boycotted the game, no allegations would have come. We continued playing because the BCB told us to. Now if you say you won’t pay the direct-signing players, then how is that fair? Does that mean we were used? After one year, now you are saying what money for direct signing — and you are saying it in the media without even informing me. Where are we supposed to go in this situation?”

Bijoy insisted he fulfilled all his professional responsibilities and deserved the payment that was promised: “I continued playing with great difficulty. I scored a century, I fought with this team, I became the fifth-highest run-scorer. If you don’t pay me after that, I cannot accept it. Then where does the commitment stand? If someone says they were not in that department back then, then those who are now coming into the media department are starting to judge us. That means it has become two sides. You cannot talk about payment, but you can talk in the media. It is not supposed to be like this. I am not asking for anything illegal; I am asking for what was committed.”
