A Bangladesh Biman aircraft carrying 71 passengers, including children, made a safe emergency landing at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday after one of its wheels detached mid-air.
Despite a serious mid-air scare, Bangladesh Biman’s BG 436 flight from Cox’s Bazar landed safely at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport shortly after 2:00 PM on Friday. The aircraft, a Dash 8-400 model, had lost one of its rear wheels shortly after takeoff.
Airport sources confirmed the safe landing and reported that all 71 passengers, including several children, were unharmed.
The pilot alerted Dhaka’s Air Traffic Control immediately after the incident, prompting emergency preparations at the airport. Fire service vehicles and ambulances were deployed as a precautionary measure.
Following the landing, authorities temporarily closed the runway for safety checks and necessary technical evaluations. According to airport officials, the closure was a precaution to ensure no further operational risks.
The incident has sparked an internal investigation by Biman’s engineering and safety teams.
