The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled four of its leaders on charges of engaging in violence, road blockades, and activities deemed against public interest over party nomination disputes.
The expulsion order was issued late Monday night through a press release signed by the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
The expelled leaders are Alauddin Moni, president of the BNP’s volunteer wing Swechchhasebak Dal in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram; Helal Uddin Babor, general secretary of the same unit; Mamun, convener of the Sitakunda municipality unit; and Momin Uddin Mintu, general secretary of the Jubo Dal in Sonaichhari.
According to the press release, the four leaders were involved in acts of violence, clashes, and road blockades on the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway at Kadam Rasul, Bhatiari Bazar, and Jalil Gate areas in Sitakunda, Chattogram, on Monday evening.
For their alleged involvement in such activities, the party has expelled them from all posts and stripped them of primary membership, the statement said.
