BNP Mass Education Affairs Secretary and Dhaka University’s White Panel Convener Prof Md Morshed Hasan Khan has said that over the past 15 years, the party has stood by the families of all those martyred under the oppression, repression, and torture of the fascist Awami League—and will continue to do so in future.
He informed that BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has stood by the children of all the families whose members have been forcibly disappeared over the last 15 years. He has taken full responsibility for their education and all other needs, and remains committed to supporting all martyr families now and in the future.
Morshed made these remarks while speaking at a special programme titled “In the Democratic March – With Children” honouring martyr families jointly organised by Amra BNP Poribar and Mayer Dak on Tuesday.
The event was arranged in observance of the first anniversary of BNP’s declared July-August mass uprising.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was present as the chief guest while Amra BNP Poribar Convener Atikur Rahman chaired the function.
Mentioning that martyred President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia gave great importance to children, Morshed said, “Martyred President Ziaur Rahman was like the Pied Piper of Hamelin to children. Similarly, Begum Khaleda Zia also gave utmost importance to children.”
Noting various initiatives over the past 15 years to uphold children’s rights, he also said the BNP has been relentlessly working to ensure children’s rights, education, healthcare, and social security. Through various programmes, support activities, awareness campaigns, and the observance of special days, the party has played a positive role in the overall development of children, he said.
At the same time, the party has taken several initiatives and carried out activities to pay respect to the families of the martyrs, added Morshed.
