With the upcoming national parliamentary elections, the activities of nomination aspirants in Khulna-6 (Paikgacha–Koyra) constituency have intensified. As part of this, BNP nomination hopeful and former central vice president of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, conducted a public outreach campaign and distributed leaflets in various areas of Deluti Union on Friday.
According to party sources, the program was organized to hand over BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s announced “31-point program to repair the state structure” to voters. From the morning, Rafiqul, accompanied by his supporters, distributed leaflets at shops, markets, and households in Fulbari Bazar, Darun Mallik, Noai Bazar, and Bigordana areas. During the campaign, he exchanged greetings with locals and shared BNP’s political goals and plans.
Several local traders and pedestrians said they had not seen a central-level leader actively engaging with the public in such a way for a long time. They believe that such outreach will strengthen the bond between the candidate and the voters.
The outreach program was attended by Upazila Volunteer Wing leader GM Faruk Hossain, Upazila Workers’ Wing joint convener Sheikh Habibur Rahman, BNP leaders Md. Tofa and Imran Hossain, Union Volunteer Wing leaders Md. Akhtar Hossain, Shahidul Islam, Md. Zahidul Islam, Md. Sirajul Islam, Md. Mosharaf Hossain, Abdur Razzak, student leader Jiarul Islam, and Tejen Mandal, along with over a hundred activists.
At the end of the program, Rafiqul Islam Rafiq told the Koyra Journalists’ Forum, “The 31 points are the blueprint for our country’s future. People want change, and BNP is the only alternative for that change.” He further claimed that the ongoing BNP movement to restore democracy and the rights of the people is the very reason behind this public outreach.
