BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s special assistant and Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal chief coordinator Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital after falling ill.
Shimul Biswas, who also serves as the Managing Editor of the daily Dinkal, reportedly became unwell while travelling from Pabna to Dhaka last Monday.
His son Nipun Biswas stated on Wednesday that his father was admitted to hospital later that day under the care of Dr Abdul Malek, a physician specialising in internal medicine.
According to Nipun, his father was experiencing breathing difficulties and insomnia due to a lung complication. “Doctors initiated immediate treatment following a series of tests,” he said.
Nipun Biswas also said currently, his father’s physical condition is stable. The doctor tested him for several other diseases, including chikungunya.
He said that the doctor has strictly instructed that no one except family members should meet his father. “On behalf of the family, we are seeking prayers from everyone for his father’s recovery.”
Meanwhile, Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal President Anwar Hossain and General Secretary Nurul Islam Khan have requested all the concerned leaders to organize a prayer meeting at their respective units/organisations at a convenient time for all the district, metropolitan, basic union and regional committees of the party to seek immediate recovery of Shimul Biswas.
