BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has said the party does not support mob justice and has pledged disciplinary action if any member is found involved in the recent public humiliation of former Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Salahuddin stated, “We do not believe in mob culture. We are committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring due legal process.”
He added that while the party holds Nurul Huda accountable for “damaging Bangladesh’s democratic institutions,” it does not condone the act of surrounding his residence, placing a shoe garland around his neck, and harassing him — scenes that were widely circulated on social media Sunday night.
“If any BNP member is found involved in this incident, we will investigate and take appropriate disciplinary action,” he said. “Regardless of the allegations, every citizen deserves legal and constitutional protections.”
Salahuddin reiterated that justice must be pursued through lawful means and condemned what he termed “toxic practices” that undermine due process.
