The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is scheduled to meet Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on April 16. The meeting will be held at the state guesthouse, Jamuna.
The development was confirmed by BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed on Wednesday afternoon.
Sources indicate that the discussions will focus on establishing a clear and specific roadmap for the upcoming national election, as well as addressing prevailing confusion surrounding the electoral process.
Salahuddin Ahmed stated, “The Chief Advisor has given us an appointment at 12 PM on April 16. We will meet him at the state guesthouse Jamuna.”
Liberty News’ city correspondent reports that earlier, speaking to journalists at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, Salahuddin said that the party seeks a definitive electoral roadmap from the Chief Advisor. “We expect a concrete plan for holding the general election before December,” he added.
He further noted that due to differing statements from various stakeholders, confusion has arisen. “We will urge the Chief Advisor to clarify these matters,” he said.
Salahuddin emphasized the importance of transparency and adherence to due process: “The Chief Advisor should clearly present the election roadmap to the nation to dispel uncertainty and instability, ensuring political stability and boosting economic momentum.”
He also mentioned that the BNP had previously held discussions with the Election Commission, which assured them that all preparations would be completed by June. The Chief Advisor also reassured them of efforts to hold the election by December.
