Expressing grave concern over the growing trend of mob violence, BNP Senior Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that the administrative inaction leads to such unrest in the country.
The inaction of law enforcement agencies in dealing with mob violence raises serious suspicions among the countrymen, he said while talking to reporters at a press conference at BNP Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
“Social crimes have taken multiple dimensions in recent times. Administrative stalemate, influence of black money, hidden evil efforts and inaction of the law enforcement agencies are leading to the mob violence in the country,” he said.
Names of many BNP leaders and activists have come into the spotlight for their alleged involvement in the incidents of mob violence that took place in different areas across the country recently.
The party has since warned that organisational action will be taken against anyone found to be involved.
Hinting about the incidents, the BNP leader said vested quarters are engaged in dishing out lies against BNP in an organised way by using social media.
“The pre-planned propaganda, dishonest efforts and artificially created social unrest will hinder the smooth journey of democracy and delay the holding of the next general election,” Rizvi said.
He said there is no space in BNP politics for those who are involved in anti-social activities, extortion, illegal occupation and corruption.
Expressing concern that many people might be involved in such unlawful activities using BNP’s name, Rizvi said his party will not hesitate to take swift action against the offenders.
Several BNP leaders have already been expelled and suspended from their party posts for their alleged involvement in such chaotic activities and the party has already issued show cause notices against them to know the facts, he said.
