The general secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Nasir Uddin, has raised concerns over the financial sources of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir. He questioned how Shibir manages such large sums of money, particularly for its daily public iftar programs.

During a press conference at the BNP central office in Naya Paltan on Friday at 3 PM, Nasir Uddin questioned how a student organization like Chhatra Shibir could afford to spend approximately Tk 3 lakh daily, amounting to Tk 90 lakh per month.

Addressing journalists, he said, “We have heard Shibir’s secretary claim in the media that they spend Tk 3 lakh every day for public iftar programs. Our question is, where does this money come from? What are their income sources? We urge the media to ask Shibir for transparency regarding their funds.”

Additionally, the JCD president alleged that whenever an untoward incident occurs, the name of Chhatra Dal is deliberately linked in media reports, which he finds regrettable.

Regarding a recent incident involving National Citizens’ Committee leader Sarsij Alam, JCD stated that they are collecting information and will analyze the details before making further comments.

Liberty News’ political correspondent states that in response to a journalist’s query, Nasir Uddin said, “According to our preliminary findings, no Chhatra Dal members were involved in that incident.”
