International Crimes Tribunal’s Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam revealed that a bomb was planted to target the investigation team handling enforced disappearance cases, but assured that such conspiracies will not stop the tribunal’s progress.
On Sunday, April 6, after hearings of several cases, Tajul Islam held a press conference at the tribunal, detailing the disturbing revelation. He confirmed that a bomb was planted to kill him and his team while they were investigating cases of enforced disappearances. Despite the attack, Tajul Islam assured that no conspiracy would obstruct the tribunal’s work.
He further stated that investigation reports on high-profile cases, including the charges of murder, genocide, and the infamous Ashulia and Chankharpul massacres, have been completed. Formal charges in at least two of these cases will be submitted to the tribunal this month.
Tajul Islam strongly condemned the ongoing conspiracies to hinder the tribunal’s work and declared that no scandal or corruption, either within the prosecution or investigation teams, would stand in the way of justice.
