British agents, part of the National Crime Agency (NCA), have secretly visited Dhaka to meet with Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as part of an ongoing investigation into former UK Minister Tulip Siddiq’s alleged involvement in corruption.
Tulip Siddiq, former Minister for Cities and Anti-Corruption in the UK, is under investigation by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) for multiple corruption allegations. According to a report by the British newspaper Daily Mail, NCA agents discreetly traveled to Dhaka to meet with Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in connection with the probe.
One of the primary accusations against Siddiq is related to a controversial nuclear power plant project in Bangladesh. It is alleged that Siddiq and her family embezzled nearly $5 billion from the project, which was initiated during the tenure of her aunt, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Additionally, Siddiq has been accused of receiving multiple properties as gifts from individuals linked to the ruling Awami League, gifts which she failed to disclose to UK authorities.
Liberty News’ international correspondent reports this investigation marks a significant chapter in the growing scrutiny of Siddiq’s financial dealings, raising questions about corruption at high levels within both Bangladesh and the UK. The NCA’s discreet engagement with Bangladesh’s anti-corruption officials signals the serious nature of these allegations.
