In Pallabi, Mirpur – two individuals, Md. Jasim Uddin (44) and Shahinur Begum (30), were shot and injured due to a longstanding feud with rivals. The injured, siblings, were targeted early Saturday morning (February 15). They were brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 6:15 AM in critical condition.
Their brother-in-law, Amir Hossain, who transported them to the hospital, revealed that Jasim owns a TV showroom. Returning home after Shab-e-Barat prayers around 3:45 AM, Jasim engaged in a heated argument with local rivals Sharif, Tuhin, Shahidul, Sujan, and Riaz. The altercation escalated when Shahidul fired at Jasim, striking him twice above the knees on both legs.
At that moment, his sister Shahinur Begum stepped forward to save her brother, resulting in a bullet striking her right leg below the knee. Upon receiving the news, they were rescued and initially taken to Kurmitola General Hospital. Later, they were transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Currently, they are undergoing treatment in the emergency department.
Md. Faruk, the in-charge (inspector) of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, informed Liberty News that the two individuals, including the woman, were brought to the hospital early this morning. They are currently receiving treatment in the emergency department. The matter has been reported to the relevant police station.
