The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed in 121 individuals through two border points in Moulvibazar district on Sunday.

The push-in began late Saturday night (May 24) and continued until Sunday (May 25) morning. However, as soon as the individuals entered Bangladesh, they were detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The nationality of those detained has not yet been confirmed, and verification is currently underway.

According to BGB and local sources, 79 people were pushed in through the Shahbazpur border of Barlekha upazila in Moulvibazar, and 42 through the Pallathal border. They were sent into Bangladesh via dense forests and wetlands starting around 2:30 AM.

Confirming the matter, BGB 52 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan said that they intensified surveillance in the border area.

They observed that groups of people were being sent across from the Indian side using dense forest and wetland routes.

BGB immediately took action, took everyone into custody, and the process of verifying their identities was ongoing,” he added.
