BSF returns body of Bangladeshi after flag meet

Liberty News Desk

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) returned the half-decomposed body of Ibrahim Hossain, 40, on Saturday night (5 July), three days after he was allegedly shot dead along the Nitpur border in Porsha upazila of Naogaon.

Locals said Ibrahim was grazing his cattle near the border on Thursday morning when BSF members from India’s Agrabad Camp opened fire, killing him on the spot. The BSF then took his body into Indian territory.

Initially denying the incident, BSF later admitted to the killing and handed over the body through the Nitpur border around 10pm.

BGB-16 Battalion’s Nitpur Camp Company Commandant Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed that the body was received with police presence and handed over to the family. A flag meeting between BGB and BSF was held earlier over the incident.
