Students of Barisal University (BU) protested by blocking the road for two hours after they were attacked while trying to stop a clash between bus and three-wheeler drivers on March 8. The protest was lifted after assurances from the administration.

The incident occurred near the Khoyrabad Bridge, where bus and three-wheeler drivers clashed over a checkpost set up by the bus owners’ association to prevent three-wheelers from picking up passengers. BU students, who intervened to stop the fight, were attacked by the three-wheeler drivers. Three students—Tanzil Azad, Tarikul Islam Azmain, and Robiul Islam—were injured.

Liberty News’ campus correspondent states that the students organized a roadblock on the Kuakata-Barisal highway, causing a two-hour traffic jam. The protest was lifted after the bus owners’ association, military, and police offered assurances. Police said the situation had been addressed, and traffic had returned to normal.
