Seven people were killed and at least 35 others injured when a passenger bus lost control and plunged into a ditch in Faridpur’s Bakhanda area on Tuesday. The tragic accident occurred on the Faridpur-Barisal highway around 11:15 AM.
The accident took place when a Hindex bus, traveling from Tekerhat to Faridpur, veered off the road and fell into a roadside ditch near the Sharif Jute Mill in Bakhanda. Local residents and fire service personnel quickly initiated rescue operations to assist the victims.
According to Mohammad Rokibuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of the Faridpur Highway Police, five people were confirmed dead at the scene, and the remaining two succumbed to their injuries later. Approximately 35 to 40 individuals were injured, with several in critical condition.
Liberty News’ local correspondent states that the injured passengers were promptly transported to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident, and medical teams are closely monitoring the condition of the victims.
