Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus departed Dhaka on Monday for a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and promoting cooperation in trade, investment, and anti-corruption efforts.

During the visit, Dr. Yunus is scheduled to meet King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, where he will receive the prestigious King Charles Harmony Award. He will also hold bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and engage with other key UK policymakers and business leaders.

Accompanying the Chief Adviser are Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur and Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Dr. Abdul Momen.

At a recent press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed that British High Commissioner Sarah Cook met with Dr. Yunus in Dhaka to finalize the agenda, including discussions on recovering illicit funds transferred from Bangladesh to the UK.

Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddiqui described the trip as “extremely important” for Bangladesh’s diplomatic and economic ties with the UK. Dr. Yunus is expected to return to Dhaka on June 14.
