The National Security Intelligence (NSI) has arrested a security guard of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. During the arrest, authorities recovered 1,250 Saudi riyals, various gold ornaments, and three gold bars, totaling 542 grams of gold, from his possession.
He was arrested at 1:20 AM on Saturday while crossing the Green Channel. The detainee has been identified as Md. Ohidur, a resident of Nijra village in Gopalganj district.
According to CAAB sources, NSI officials became suspicious of Ohidur’s behavior while he was crossing the Green Channel and inquired about the purpose of his entry. When he failed to provide a satisfactory answer, a body search was conducted, during which gold and foreign currency were recovered from him.
During interrogation, Ohidur revealed that a passenger named Alamgir, traveling on the Saudia Airlines Riyadh-Dhaka flight, handed him the gold ornaments. In exchange for delivering these items to a person named Liton waiting outside the airport, he admitted to receiving 1,250 Saudi riyals. After this confession, he was handed over to the police station.
