In Jessore, a Chhatra Dal leader, Shaon Islam Shuvo, has been arrested for allegedly punching a traffic police officer, causing a nose injury. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when Shaon got into a dispute with the officer over a traffic obstruction.

On Saturday night, Shaon Islam Shuvo, the General Secretary of the Jessore City College Chhatra Dal, was arrested after he punched KM Shariful Islam, a traffic police officer, injuring his nose. The incident took place near Lab Aid Hospital on Jail Road when Shaon parked his motorcycle improperly, creating a traffic jam. Officer Shariful asked him to move the motorcycle, but Shaon became angry and assaulted the officer.

Witnesses intervened, and police officers from the nearby station arrived to arrest Shaon. He was later taken to Kotwali Police Station.

Officer Shariful stated that he had been performing his duties when Shaon’s motorcycle caused a traffic issue. After asking Shaon to move the vehicle, Shaon became enraged and physically attacked him. He was later assisted by pedestrians and colleagues, who took him to the hospital.

Kotwali Police Station’s OC, Kazi Babul Hossain, confirmed Shaon’s arrest, charging him with obstructing government work and assaulting a police officer.

Liberty News’ local correspondent states that District Chhatra Dal President, Rajedur Rahman Sagar, expressed embarrassment over the incident, noting that while they were aware of the dispute, they had no knowledge of the alleged assault. He emphasized that the organization would not take responsibility for the actions of an individual member.
