A local leader of the opposition student wing entered an HSC examination hall in Baraigram, Natore, causing widespread criticism after his photo inside the hall went viral on social media. The incident occurred on Thursday (26 June) at Room 205 of Bonpara College examination centre during ongoing Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams.

The individual, identified as Rakib Sardar, is the joint convener of the Bonpara unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and son of Sardar Rafique, a former BNP municipal secretary. Witnesses said Rakib entered the centre despite Section 144 being enforced within 100 yards of the exam premises. He reportedly visited multiple rooms and offered encouragement and instructions to students before taking photos inside Room 205 with a smartphone—an item strictly prohibited in exam centres.

The photo was shared on Facebook by an associate and quickly sparked outrage. Following the backlash, the exam centre secretary and acting principal of Bonpara College, Kohinur Khatun, was served a show-cause notice. Four invigilators from Room 205—Mosaddeq Hossain, Nargis Alam, Motiur Rahman, and Taslim Uddin—were immediately removed from their duties.

Kohinur Khatun admitted the breach occurred without her knowledge and claimed the student leader left the centre before question papers were distributed.

UNO Laila Jannatul Ferdous stated she became aware of the incident only after seeing the viral post. She confirmed that legal steps are underway, with the local police preparing action as instructed.

The incident has raised serious concerns about exam security and political interference within educational institutions.
