Following the fatal stabbing of Jahid Hasan Parvez during a clash between student groups at Prime Asia University, the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal (BJCD) staged a protest march at midnight on Dhaka University campus.

A group of activists from the central committee of Chhatra Dal brought out a protest procession around midnight on Saturday in front of the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), demanding justice for the killing of Parvez.

The procession started from the emergency gate, moved towards the TSC area of Dhaka University, and ended back at DMCH. Demonstrators chanted slogans such as “Why did my brother die? We demand an interim answer,” “We want justice for Parvez,” and “My brother is in the grave, why is the killer outside?”

Speaking to reporters after the protest, BJCD central president Rakibul Islam Rakib alleged that Parvez, a Chhatra Dal activist, was murdered over a minor dispute among friends on the Prime Asia University campus in Banani.

“We have learned that the incident was carried out under the instructions of several leaders and activists of the private university anti-discrimination student movement,” Rakib claimed.

He strongly condemned the killing and urged authorities to ensure the highest punishment for those involved. He also demanded immediate legal action against the attackers responsible for the incident.
